Sod Care

Sod Care

Initial Sod Care
Water your sod as soon as the turf is installed. Saturate the sod evenly and thoroughly, failure to water enough in the beginning can damage the appearance of the turf and could also prevent new grass from growing. If severely neglected, it could kill the grass. After the initial watering, frequent light watering will be required. If there are any questions or if you see problems with your sod, please call, 405.354.2865.

Secondary Sod Care
Change your watering pattern. Wait until your grass shows signs of slight stress before watering. This will force the turf to toughen up. A light fertilizer application will also be needed at this stage. This may also be a good time to get professional yard care if you do not feel qualified to maintain your turf.
Long-Term Sod Care
An end-of-season fertilizer and early spring fertilizer will be needed. Post-emergent and pre-emergent herbicides may also be necessary to prevent weeds and unwanted grasses from growing during this time. The first year will naturally have more weeds trying to grow than the following years. If you are unsure of what to do, please contact us at the number above.
